A LOOK BACK AT WWW2012: A SUCCESS FOR LYON!

In April of this year, Lyon became the web world capital, we look back at the event that had unrivalled success across Europe!
 

Over 1800 scientists, experts, professionals and users from over 54 different countries came together at the Centre de Congrès de Lyon for the www2012 event. Among them, Tim Berners Lee, Neelie Kroes and Bernard Stiegler spoke during the conferences and round tables.

However, related events were held at various other venues with activities being held all around the city of Lyon that were open to all. In total, over 1500 people attended at least one of the 15 initiatives being held around the city.

“The 3000 challenge”: a world first

Le Centre de Congrès de Lyon, SPIE Communications, project manager, and Aruba Networks took up the challenge of providing a dense but environmentally-friendly Wifi network in the Salle 3000: a 3000-seater theatre. This was a world first!

A success for Lyon

Following this exceptionally successful event, dozens of articles devoted to www2012 appeared in international publications such as The Telegraph and The Guardian thus offering great international visibility for the city of Lyon.
