Alain Fayolle, 55 years old, a professor at EM Lyon with a PhD in Management Science, has been entrusted with a mission for the OECD. He will combine field work with analysis to evaluate the public polices of Berlin, in terms of links between entrepreneurship and institutions of higher education and universities. Indeed, the OECD sees entrepreneurship as a key factor of development and supports entrepreneurship education, especially for young people.

Alain Fayolle is also conducting another project, for the Swedish government. This country's objective is to encourage Swedish universities to create and develop programs of excellence in entrepreneurship. Through the Swedish national agency for higher education, the Swedish government has mandated four internationally renowned experts, including Alain Fayolle, to further this goal. A call for proposals has been made, and these experts are in charge of evaluating the applications and selecting the best ones.

At EMLYON Business School, Alain Fayolle runs the Entrepreneurial Research Center. A team of about ten researchers and doctoral candidates are working with him to study the dynamics of entrepreneurial processes. Which complex processes do individuals use to reach the final stages of business creation? Which factors favor or hinder entrepreneurial success? Which educational principles and which tools can help new entrepreneurs carry their projects through to completion?

At a time when entrepreneurship seems like one possible solution to the crisis, the growing recognition of the importance of the work conducted in this area confirms the frontrunner status of EMLYON Business School and its faculty in the field of entrepreneurship.
