KEN LOACH: LUMIÈRE AWARD 2012!

The British filmmaker Ken Loach will receive the Lumière Award this year during the film festival in Lyon, from October 15 to 21, 2012.
 
Following Clint Eastwood, Milos Forman and Gérard Depardieu, this year’s recipient of the Lumière Award will be Ken Loach.

The famed British filmmaker, Ken Loach, has made more than 20 feature films for the cinema. His latest film, The Angels' Share, was in competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2012 and won the Jury Prize, presented by Nanni Moretti.

During his visit to the Lumière Festival, Ken Loach will present several of his films, participate in public events and speak of his favorite films, in keeping with the tradition of the festival.

The Lumière Award was created by Thierry Frémaux, director of Institut Lumière, to give recognition to leading figures of the 7th art, in the very place where the first movie camera, the Cinématographe, was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière.
