AS FRANCE'S SECOND LARGEST EDUCATION AND RESEARCH CAPITAL, THE LYON REGION HAS A LARGE POOL OF STUDENTS, RESEARCHERS AND HIGHLY QUALIFIED WORKERS.
Every year, some 15,000 foreign students come to study in Lyon.

Lyon has national and international caliber schools offering quality education in many areas, starting with the International School of Lyon (ISL) at the primary and secondary level, all the way up to INSA Lyon national institute of applied sciences, École Centrale school of engineering, ENS higher schools of teacher training in the sciences and literature, EM Lyon school of management, CNSMD higher national conservatory of music and dance, and others.
With 10,000 new businesses started in 2006, local policies encouraging entrepreneurship and providing support to 20,000 new business projects every year, along with thriving start-ups in fields such as biotechnology, chemicals/environment, and digital applications, Lyon is the most enterprising city in France.

We decided to launch AltraBio in the Rhône-Alpes region because we wanted to take advantage of a favorable environment in terms of academic and industrial partnerships. We have been pleased to discover that there is also an efficient "logistics" organization available in the region: starting with the preparatory phase of our project, with the EM Lyon school of management and the Créalys business incubator, then for the launch of the company, with Rhône-Alpes Entreprendre and the Novacité start-up park. For us, the slogan "Lyon: a Business City" rings very true.
