WIDELY ENVIED QUALITY OF LIFE

LYON, A NICE PLACE TO LIVE IN FRANCE

Lyon offers an exceptionally pleasant living environment, with a convenient public transport system, clean streets, low crime rates, low levels of pollution and other advantages. Furthermore, in 2007, the metropolitan area was ranked as the healthiest French city by the magazine "Impact Médecine"!

  • In 1998, Lyon was named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Former capital of Gaul, the city has preserved its 2000 years of history, with buildings and monuments from every era. This extraordinary heritage continues to grow, thanks to the work of top contemporary architects (Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Santiago Calatrava, and others).

  • Unique cultural events attract international audiences: Festival of Lights (4 million visitors), Biennial Festival of Dance, Biennial Festival of Contemporary Art, "Nuits sonores" electronic music festival, Nuits de Fourvièresummer festival of performing arts.

  • The capital of French gastronomy, Lyon offers a tempting choice of "bouchon" bistros and famed restaurants where excellence and inventiveness are served up every day, led by such great chefs as Paul Bocuse and Nicolas Le Bec.

President of Mérial SAS

When we decided to transfer our activities from the Lyon-Gerland district, we had various options. We convinced our shareholders of the benefits of moving to the Saint-Priest Technology Park. Not only is it close to all forms of transport, it also offers the employees of Mérial an exceptional working environment.

The headquarters of our Sales Company and our Holding Company are currently located in Clayes-sous-Bois, in the west Paris region. Our lease will soon be over and so we began to consider relocating. Various scenarios were studied, but the Lyon region quickly emerged as the best option, thanks to its dynamic economy, its infrastructures and easy access. Aderly organized an introductory visit of the area for our staff. The climate, the proximity to the mountains and the sea, and the general atmosphere helped convince our employees that this move would give them the opportunity to enjoy a quality of life which is sadly lacking in the Paris region.
